So far $833.69 has been stolen from my account. Another $997.32 was attempted, but was flagged by the companies before it was processed. Affidavits have been filed to get my money back. It will take 3-5 days. It will also take 3-5 days for any other charges, that might have been made before the card was reported stolen, to show up. I will then have to file affidavits on that money and wait another three to five days. Hopefully this means that by next week the nightmare will be over. Hopefully? One day?
I am hollow with betrayal. I am naked in the cold. I had no idea that such an impersonal invasion would affect me on such a personal level.
Amazon and flowers.com rock, they didn't let anything get through.Their walls of defense worked. Yay!
Perfume. com, Nordstromdirect.com, Zappos.com, and pacificsunwear.com DO NOT rock. Their walls have been proven faulty.
Aren't you glad that they stole my money for important things??
Thank you all for your kind words. You are all great great friends.
Now, I promise to move on to some cheerier topic tomorrow.
And if I find out an address I will definetly pass it on to my champions, the ass kickers.

I cannot believe the shops these criminals were trying to shop at with your card! Holy crap. Imagine how many purcahses they are making with other peoples cards...people that don't keep up with their tranactions....imagine those statements at the end of the month! Thank God I live on a cash basis - seriously - I hate plastic in every form ;)
zappos, really? uh oh.
i had my company credit card number stolen once, buying used books for our office library. that was truly a nightmare; they used the card to visit porn sites. good luck.
I had a credit card stolen a few years ago, but the morons got stopped dead by the card security monitors when they repeatedly tried to use it to make international phone calls to Africa...not something that lined up with my usage profile, and so raised an immediate red flag. You can't be too careful any more about these things. Hope it all works out for you. Good luck.
Ah man... that really sucks! I'm sorry that you are going through this, but am glad that things seem to be getting sorted out fairly quickly. I fear this happening to me... it is WAY too common these days. ARGH!!
YAY! You're on your way to getting your money back!
WOW so now ou wait for one of these places to grab to fool when the charge is declined!!!!! hope it says stolen when it is.
I'm so sorry you're going through this. I don't even know what else to say.
I hope this nightmare is over for you very soon.
We had our company credit card number hijacked about a year ago. The person set up a NetZero internet access account and an account for web site hosting. The ironic part of this whole situation is that OUR company is an internet access provider AND provides web site hosting. Had it not been for the fact that the crime itself is a serious one, it would have been funny in a "Stupid Criminals" kinda way!
Wow, I read your first post on this too, This just SUCKS! So was the actual plastic stolen or did they somehow get the #'s off of a site that you purchase from? This is so scary. I am glad that you are getting your $$ back. I take it this was a debit card versus a credit card, which in my mind a debit is worse as that comes right out of what you live on. I hope they catch these fools!!
It really does suck when this happens. And, I'm so glad you'll be getting your money back. I had it happen once myself. It's NOT fun.
I guess it would make you feel better if they had used it at walgreens for a prescription or groceries or something. Still sucks! You are getting your money back quicker than I thought they would. yea for something!
A few weeks ago (I think on 20/20) there was a story of a woman who was standing in line at a store, and overheard the woman in front of her. SHE WAS THE WOMAN who had stolen her identity. She called the cops - the woman ran.. she chased her down -- it was quite the distance.
Under normal circumstances, law enforcement does little to track down identity theft - and fraud.
I'm glad I saw your later post - that you are not emotionally hanging on to the assault on your account. (PS I'm sure you got an ID Theft kit and did all the steps?)
