Haiky Friday

Happy Birthday, Britty
Haiku Friday
Britty was my first,
the first baby of my heart,
more than just a niece.
*
She looked like Snow White
from the moment she was born,
the prettiest girl.
*
She wrapped us all up,
capturing us in her blue
bluest eyes of all.
*
I was just twenty
and her Mama, my sister,
was only sixteen.
*
Some people whispered,
"That Alisha, she is pregnant."
People always judge.
*
They had no idea
that some wonderful Mamas
start out as scared girls.
*
They had no idea
that what they called a mistake
was really a gift.
*
And oh, that gift now...
it glows and sparkles and smiles...
My lovely Britty.
*
She is a good girl,
the kind that everyone loves,
on the verge of more.
*
I love you Britty,
my very first baby girl.
Have a great birthday!

I have a niece born in similar situation. I cannot imagine my life without her; she was my "first born" in many ways and always holds a dear spot in my heart.

What a wonderful tribute! Happy Haiku Friday!

Thats a really beautiful haiku for your niece. She is blessed to be the first born to two moms!

That was beautiful. You should give her a copy of it when you give her the rest of her gifts. Tell her I said "Happy Birthday!" and I hope she has a great one : )

What a sweet, well written haiku! I loved it!

My sister had my nephew at 18 when I was 22. I moved back home to help her for 6 months until my husband (then fiance) and I bought our own condo. But we still took him every couple of weekend, and we still do. He is, in a way, my first too.

I'm amazed how sometimes the "accidental" children turn into the biggest blessings. My cousin had a similar baby when she was 20 and they told my aunt it was the baby or her daughter (cousin is very diabetic ala JR in Steel Magnolias) only for them both to survive. The "miracle baby" saved her mom from bad men, bad choices and a downward spiral.

Wow, how beautiful Serina. I hope she gets to read this someday Serina. Some accidents, somehow, really just aren't accidents...

Did I tell you beautiful this was? ;-)

That made me cry. So beautifully said. I can feel the love you have for her.
I have a niece born in the same circumstances (though my sis was a bit older), and she was the first baby I ever fell in love with too.
Precious post. Thank you.
