Fun Monday - You Can Call Me Al

Our host this week is The Crown Princess. I absolutely adore the assignment. Not only does it not require a camera or a scanner, but I get to share one of my absolute favorite things with you.

The assignment:

Music plays a vital role in most of our lives. It is everywhere. I want to hear the ONE song that is you. The song that whenever it is heard, you smile. I am not looking for the soundtrack of your life, just that one song. Your friends hear it and think of you. You can post the video, the lyrics, the wav file. However you want to post it is great.

I don't know if this song makes lots of people think of me. That is the only part that I am unsure of. I ran the assignment past Randy and asked him which song he thought I would pick...and he picked right. I think that is a good enough test. I love this song. I listen to this song so often that my kids love this song. If this song comes on in the grocery store I will dance and sing with abandon. My husband just loves this, I am sure. This song is me at my happiest most relaxed state. Enjoy.

I clicked on the "play" and started to walk away - listening as I went across the room - I came back, started it over, turned it up and dance (well some might call it that) as my dogs wondered with the tilted head look. Great song - Chevy and Paul were great... NLM

Oh that was great! I have always loved Paul Simon. Aren't there so many great songs out there in the world? Fantastic choice! It definitely makes me smile.

I knew you either hated or loved this song; couldn't remember which. Daniel thinks the video (which he'd never seen before) is really weird, which confirms for me that he had very limited access to television growing up.

For those who are interested, Serina's anti-favorite song is by Hootie and the Blowfish. It's anything they've ever written.

Brilliant choice. Amusingly this is a slice of my childhood - my mum absolutely loves this song. I was quite impressed that I remember more than half the lyrics!

I love that you'll dance away in the store to this. I bet your kids and husband find this just the most embarassing thing in the world.

You know when you really dislike a song but you can't help singing along with it anyway!? This is one of them!

My momma has improved a lot. I'll be off and on over the next week. We just got to take one day at a time. Thank you for being there for me!

Ha. I had forgotten about this one. Know that I'm sitting here foot tappin and head banging while typing. Thanks.

I definitely think of you every time that I hear this song. And, if I'm going through town, I will look around and pretend the people that I see are singing the song as I'm listening to it. I seem to remember you would drive around campus pretending everyone was part of your own video for this song. Life is a Highway reminds me of trips to Natchez in the blue car. I sure do love you.

I agree with AOJ. This is one of those songs I truly dispise--I'm not sure why--but I can't help singing along with it. Perhaps it's because it's so upbeat. I do love Paul Simon, just not this song. It's a happy song, though, and I'm glad such an upbeat, happy tune says "you":o)

Faye said...

Think everyone probably has a Simon and Garfunkel--or S and G with others--that sings to them. Think it's amusing that other people recognize YOUR song as well, Serina.

Oh that was great. Chevy and Paul, the tall and the short. Chevy did a wonderful job and Paul is so cute (sortof) Yes, I was dancing in my chair. Great song.

I love this video...long long time ago when I used to clean house....hehehehehe, and I'd have VH1 playing in the background, I'd have to stop what I was doing and watch it. Every darned time. I never tired of it.
