I've been robbed

The phone rang at 9:00 a.m. I opened my eye to see Randy squinting at the caller ID. Who would dare call us on a morning that had been deemed sleep late day? (The Princess only allows those mornings to happen on the rarest of occasions.)
"It says Seattle...," he mumbles.
"We know no Seattle. Let it ring.," I moan from under Stoosh.
So, he did. Little did I know, but the next thirty minutes would be the last moments of peace that I would know today.
After Princess H played rooster and we drug our butts from the bed, he checked the message.
It was Amazon calling. They wanted to verify a $240 order that was being made on my account.
Uh, no, what the hell?
After calling to say that I DID NOT order anything, I decided to call the bank and check for any other suspicious activity. My balance was $700 less than what it should have been. Listening to the recent withdrawals, I was able to identify two large electronic withdrawals that we didn't make. $288.43 on the 24th and $249 on the 25th. I looked at Randy i shock..."We didn't spend that did we?"
"Sweety, we never spend that much money unless it is on the Electric bill or rent. No, I don't think that we have gone crazy and spend $600 for no reason.," he explained to my pale stricken face.
He called and reported my card stolen. That is the only action that we could take today, as it is Sunday.
Randy has been reassuring and attempting to comfort me all day. He assures me that the bank is going to give us our money back. I hope so. I PRAY so. I just don't even know what to think.
I feel so wounded. I am sure that the idiots who did this don't even know me. But it feels so personal. $700 is a lot of hours away from my family. It is a lot of food and electricity for my home. It is new shoes, birthday parties, house savings, and popsicles. I am just so .... I am speechless. I am hurt.

This is terrible! I know exactly how hurt and angry you must feel. Just last year we had our credit card 'frauded' and had over a thousand ringgit charged to it. Luckily, this was just a credit card and we were able to just refuse to pay the bill for those items.

I think banks have similar policies that protect its customers in these cases so don't worry so much. You'll get your money back.

Oh hun, you are going to get your money back, you so will. This smae thing happened to my mom and though it is a major pain in the butt, you will eventually get it back.

Usually these criminals work off one machine, therefore, many people will have also been ripped off around the same time as you. The banks are really good about replacing the money in full.

I know, we all felt extremely violated when this happened to my mom...she was so upset.

That's so awful; as huckdoll said, I'm sure you will get your money back, there are procedures for these terrible situations.

I'm praying for you and your family.

Credit card fraud is terrible, and I hope you can get your money back. Be sure you file a police report, as well as letting your bank know...it will help establish your position for reimbursement, even if the police probably won't be able to track down the thieving bastard, at least not soon. Good luck.

That is so horrible!! I feel for you and I will be praying for you. This is a horrendous thing to have happen and me and my hubby have been through this , but it was a little different, my hubby had lost his wallet when we were home at Christmas, and whoever found it used my hubbies social security card when they got arrested for dui and my hubby had a warrent out for him in Indiana , we lived in California at the time. He had to go to court and all kinds of other stuff. It took about 6 years to get it off of him and he had to get his license reinstated and such. It was horrible.

How terrible. I just had something similar happen, but when I caught it, the charges had just been pre-authorized. I got phone numbers, made calls, and ended up keeping the actual charges off our account.

It sure did ruin my day, though, and I had to go 10 days without my card while the bank sent me a new one.

I hope everything works out ok for you.

do you buy online with a debit card? you keep mentioning the bank giving you your money bank.... it's much much safer to buy with a credit card. they will immediately cancel the card and issue you a new one, and then get to the bottom of the crime.

I'm so sorry!! My husband has "lost" his card twice in the last month but we've been more fortunate. I'm sorry.

We were visiting my brothers house once, and when we came home from a day trip found the house ransacked and robbed. My suitcase was used to carry away the loot.

I felt so violated.
